This Tuesday is our final movie of the season and we’re going out like gangbusters with ALIENS! It’s hard to believe ALIENS turns 30 this year. It’s one of the rare sequels that stands up to the original, in no small part because rather than trying to ape the moody, deliberate thriller of Ridley Scott’s original classic, James Cameron smartly went for a complete tonal shift with this action-packed sci-fi/horror tour-de-force. What both films do share, of course, is one of the great screen heroines of all time: Sigourney Weaver’s kick-ass Ellen Ripley. Joining her is Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, and Lance Henriksen. You don’t want to miss it.
ALIENS is brought to you by DRY DOCK and FORT DEFIANCE, who will be at the park serving dinner alongside Walter Youngblood’s KingLeche Cremes goats milk ice cream bars. Steve’s Key Lime Pies will stay open late for us serving tarts, pies, swingles, and limeades; and as a special treat for closing night Red Hook’s own Dolce Brooklyn will be there with their handcrafted gelato. It’s going to be dessert heaven.
See you at the pier!

As much as we do everything we can here at Red Hook Flicks to keep our screenings at Valentino, there are some days where the weather is just too dicey. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the radar and it’s showing two stubborn bands of rain heading straight for the pier this evening right during prime set up and screening time. And since our rain space at

Detroit schools L.A. this Tuesday in BEVERLY HILLS COP! The highest grossing film world-wide in 1984 and the movie that cemented Eddie Murphy’s status as a superstar, BEVERLY HILLS COP also features Judge Reinhold along with brief but brilliant turns by BREAKING BAD’s Jonathan Banks, and Damon Wayans in his big screen debut. If that’s not enough, the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack features one of the great 80s synth-pop earworms of all time: “Axel F.”

This Tuesday Red Hook Flicks kicks off the 2016 series with RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Steven Spielberg’s homage to classic Saturday afternoon serial films, RAIDERS is often cited as one of the greatest movies of all time. Harrison Ford’s turn as as archaeologist-adventurer Indiana Jones helped solidify his rising star and adventure hero status as he outwits, out-whips, and out runs a host of nasty adversaries in a race to find the Ark of the Covenant before it falls into the hands of the Nazis.
We know what you’re thinking . . . it’s nearly July, and that means BBQs! Fireworks!! The opening of The Red Hook Pool!!! And perhaps most importantly–ok, maybe to us–Movies on the Pier begins!!!!
