Our 2019 Schedule Is Now Live!

5 Jun

RHFINTRO19

We’re just a little over a month away from Red Hook Flicks’ opening day, and we’re so excited we can’t stand it. We’ve doubled-down this year on our love of the eighties and have brought you a slate of classics almost entirely from the decade of shoulder pads, spiral perms, Just Say No, and Jheri curls. That the Reagan Era bears a certain parallel to our current day seemed appropo, as well. Herewith, then, a fitting mix of comedy, bravado, and portents from the future to while away your summer nights–all accompanied by some of Red Hook’s finest food purveyors. Of course absolutely none of this would be possible without our local sponsors.  As the costs of putting on the series continue to increase, we can’t say a big enough thanks to them! Check out the complete schedule here and we’ll see you on the pier.

ROADHOUSE . . . coming 7/31!

29 Jul

road-house-poster

Come on down to the Double Deuce this Tuesday and spend the evening with your favorite mullet-sporting, philosophy-spouting bouncer. Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliott, Ben Gazzara, and John Doe of X star in the eighties so-bad-its-amazing cult-classic Roadhouse, brought to you by Rita and The O’Connell Organization. Rita, one of the newest restaurants to arrive on Van Brunt Street, will be on hand serving a dive-bar worthy dinner of nachos (think homemade nacho cheese, smoked beans, pork carnitas–the works!), and Steve’s Key Lime will stay open late so that you can partake of their singular tarts and swingles.

See you on the pier!

HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE . . . coming 7/10!

8 Jul

HandK

Summer’s here and the time is right for movies on the pier. And, if you’ve ever wondered what Ryan Reynolds, Neil Patrick Harris, a rabid raccoon, and those tender little burgers with those little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in your mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one have in common, then boy do we have a movie to kick off the summer film season for you! Starring John Cho and Kal Penn, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is brought to you by Movers Not Shakers! and Red Hook Lobster Pound.

Worried you’re going to have an extreme case of the munchies on Tuesday night? Well never fear, because the Pound will be on hand serving their famous lobster rolls ($20), alongside Berkshire pork and bacon hot dogs ($4), chips ($2), lemonade and iced tea ($4 each). And as alway’s Steve’s will stay open late serving the most insanely delicious and authentic Key Lime pies you’ve ever had. See you at the pier!

ARMAGEDDON . . . coming 8/29!

25 Aug

Friends, it’s hard to believe but this Tuesday is our final film of the season and we’re going out like gangbusters with ARMAGEDDON. This 1998 Michael Bay/Jerry Bruckheimer extravaganza stars Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Keith David, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Steve Buscemi and follows a rag-tag group of deep-core drillers sent into space on a last-ditch mission to prevent an asteroid from demolishing the earth.

ARMAGEDDON is being brought to you by Sunny’s Bar and Hometown Bar-B-Que, who will be with us at the pier serving up a dinner fit for a roughneck: beef and pork meatball heroes on a seeded Caputo’s hero, slathered in marinara sauce and herbed ricotta (arugula salad on the side).  And for the vegetarians, there’ll be an eggplant and mushroom variation–yum! We’ll take one of each.

And lest you forget, our dessert options are, as always, off the hook with Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies open across the parking lot, Dolce Brooklyn serving their hand-crafted gelato and sorbet, and KingLeche Cremes representing with their goats milk ice cream bars and fresh popcorn.

See you at the pier!

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE . . . coming 8/1!

30 Jul

Dig out your Moon Boots and dust off your dance moves, because this Tuesday at the pier we’re showing NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE. The little-indie-that-could became a pop culture phenomenon in 2004, pulling in nearly 45 million dollars at the box-office and making a cultural touchstone of it’s titular geek. Tater Tots and hipster vernacular would never be the same.

NAPOLEON DYNOMITE is brought to you by our friends at Waterfront Kitchens and Pizza Moto. Dinner will be 10″ personal pizzas (plain or pepperoni, $8 each) courtesy of Pizza Moto’s mobile pizza oven, along with limonata, aranciata, and blood orange San Pellegrino sodas ($3). Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies will be open across the parking lot selling their tarts and swingles. And Dolce Brooklyn and KingLeche Cremes will treat us to a selection of handmade gelato, sorbetto, and goat’s milk ice-cream.

See you at the pier!

Come join us this coming Tuesday, July 25th for Zootopia. This 2016, 3D computer animated, mystery, comedy adventure uses the allegory of big city life, and all of its challenges, under the guise of playful and endearing animal characters. The two main heroes are a spunky and intelligent rabbit police officer–the first of her species–  and a cunning sly red fox/ lovable con artist. Together, the duo must solve the mystery involving the disappearance of several “residents” in the area.

We are proud to screen this film for kids both large and small. As always it comes courtesy of the generous support of our awesome local sponsors, Foxy & Winston, Wine Dogs, and Brooklyn Ice House.

Brooklyn Ice House will be serving delicious pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw for $5, and mac & cheese for $4. Yum. We hope to see you.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON . . . coming July 18!

16 Jul

In the nineties,  L.A.’s N.W.A put gangster rap on the map and made the careers of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E. Still considered one of the most influential groups in the history of hip hop, see how N.W.A. got their start this Tuesday with Straight Outta Compton. The film was nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay, and features Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson, Jr. turning up the heat on screen as his father.

Straight Outta Compton is being brought to you by The THE O’CONNELL ORGANIZATION and HOME/MADE. Dinner on Tuesday is courtesy of Home/Made, who will be serving their Ricotta toast with Toybox Tomatoes or Peaches and Basil, Peach and Basil Lemonade, and Truffle Buttered Popcorn. Key Lime Pies are on deck from Steve’s, ice-cream and popcorn from King Leche Cremes, and gelato thanks to Dolce Brooklyn.

See you at the pier!

FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF . . . coming 7/11!

7 Jul

We know you’re still recovering from your red-white-and-blue, gunpowder-hotdogs-and apple-pie hangover–not to mention the rude reality of returning to work–but don’t despair! While one celebration has ended, another is just beginning. This Tuesday marks the first night in the eight week party that is Red Hook Flicks’ Movies on the Pier and we’re kicking things off right with a John Hughes classic: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. While a career-making film for Matthew Broderick as the titular proto-slacker, the film also stars a veritable who’s who of eighties Hollywood, including: Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones, Jennifer Grey, Ben Stein, and Charlie Sheen.

Ferris Bueller is brought to you via the generous support of DRY DOCK WINE + SPIRITS and FORT DEFIANCE. Fort D will be on deck that night serving skillet-fried buttermilk chicken, cheddar biscuits, coleslaw, and bread and butter pickles ($13 for the combo); and, as always, Steve’s Key Lime Pies will be open across the parking lot slinging their signature pies and swingles. KingLeche Cremes returns with their goat’s milk ice cream bars and popcorn. And this year Dolce Brooklyn will be gracing us with their handmade gelato and sorbetto.

So, come hungry people and we’ll see you on the pier! Chick chicka chick-ahhh….

PITCH PERFECT moving to Atelier Roquette!

16 Aug

3As much as we do everything we can here at Red Hook Flicks to keep our screenings at Valentino, there are some days where the weather is just too dicey. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the radar and it’s showing two stubborn bands of rain heading straight for the pier this evening right during prime set up and screening time. And since our rain space at Atelier Roquette is so incredible (and has a liquor license!) we’re going to head on over there for tonight’s showing of PITCH PERFECT. And don’t worry, Big Red, the Pound’s food truck will be joining us there as well so you all can get your lobster roll fix. See you at Atelier! Screening starts at 8:30.

Perfect-pitch-perfect-31854759-500-228

All right pitches, this Tuesday we’re bringing you the 2012 comedy favorite PITCH PERFECT! Starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Elizabeth Banks, and Adam Devine, the film follows the Barden Bellas, a once championship, all-girl college a cappella group trying to sing its way back from disgrace as they square off against their male rivals, The Treblemakers.

PITCH PEFECT is being brought to you by Movers Not Shakers and The Red Hook Lobster Pound, and you know what that means–Big Red, The Pound’s food truck will be at the pier serving dinner. On the menu for Tuesday are Red Hook Dawgs (Berkshire pork and bacon wieners–$4), Watermelon Feta Salad ($6), and of course The Pound’s signature Lobster Roll ($19).
