Terrence Howard received an Academy-Award nomination for his performance as Djay, a Memphis hustler and pimp chasing his dream of being an emcee in Craig Brewer’s HUSTLE & FLOW. Produced by John Singleton, and also starring Ludacris and Isaac Hayes, the film’s ubiquitous ear worm of a track “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” nabbed an Oscar for Three 6 Mafia, making them the first hip hop group to win an Academy Award for Best Song.
HUSTLE & FLOW is brought to you by Sunny’s Bar and Home/Made, who will be on hand serving a menu of citrus ricotta on grilled filone, marinated goat cheese on pizza bianca, peach lemonade, garlic butter popcorn, and Home/Made focaccia. And as always, Steve’s Key Lime will be open across the parking lot and serving their delicious pies and swingles.
